CNN —A 2-year-old child died after a strong gust of wind sent the bounce house he was in airborne and into a neighboring lot in central Arizona, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said. The toddler, Bodhi Naaf, is the son of Phoenix firefighter Karl Naaf, according to the United Phoenix Firefighters Local 493 union. “This appears to have been a tragic accident,” Pinal County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lauren Reimer said in a statement. In its news release, the sheriff’s office did not say whether the bounce house in this case was staked and anchored. A 2022 study by the American Meteorological Society reported 132 wind-related bounce house incidents worldwide from January 1, 2000, to December 31, 2021.

The recall involves Tide, Gain Flings, Ace and Ariel liquid laundry detergent pod packets, which were made between September 2023 and February 2024 and sold in flexible film bags in the United States. The CPSC warned that eating a large quantity of detergent can result in death, especially among people with underlying health issues. There have been no confirmed cases of injury directly related to this packaging defect, the CPSC said. New York CNN —Two million Black+Decker steamers have been recalled after more than 80 reports of burn injuries, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday. More than 500,000 of these steamers were already recalled in November 2022, but the recall expanded Thursday to include 1.6 million more. The recall noted that 94 of the 317 reports happened with repaired steamers from the 2022 recall or from models with an updated design. Some customers received a replacement upper assembly as part of the 2022 recall — those customers should receive a refund as well. The steamers were sold in store and online at Walmart, Target, Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, as well as other retailers.

New York CNN —Best Buy has recalled more than 250,000 Insignia air fryers sold in the United States and Canada, because of fire, burn and laceration hazards. Customers are advised to immediately stop using the fryers and can visit this site for instructions on how to submit images of damaged air fryers. Affected customers can get a refund check or Best Buy store credit. The recall noted customers should not try to return the air fryers at Best Buy stores. Last February, roughly 2 million Cosori air fryers were recalled because they posed a possible fire risk.

The department assured that the vast majority of gas stoves on the market – 97% – already meet the standards. Trumka had confirmed to CNN that “everything’s on the table” when it comes to gas stoves, but stressed that any ban would apply only to new gas stoves, not existing ones. “I can tell you the last thing that would ever leave my house is the gas stove that we cook on.”CNN’s Matt Egan contributed to this story.

New York CNN —Best Buy is recalling nearly a million pressure cookers because they pose burn risks. About 930,000 Insignia Multi-Function pressure cookers sold between October 2017 and June 2023 have inaccurate volume markings, meaning that some users may fill them beyond their intended capacity, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a post Thursday. In the United States, Best Buy has received 17 complaints of burn injuries from these appliances, some of which were second-degree and other severe burns, according to the CPSC. “Nothing is more important to us than our customers’ safety,” Best Buy told CNN in a statement. Affected customer should contact Best Buy for a free replacement of the inner pot, as well as a new valve that signals when the pot is locked and pressurized.

New York CNN —Two companies have recalled more than 70 million units of rolling candy due to choking hazards, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said. Candy Dynamics is recalling 70 million “Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy.” A separate company, Cocco Candy and KGR Distribution, recalled 145,800 units of “Cocco Candy Rolling Candy.”Rolling candies have a small ball that a consumer can roll directly on their tongue for an often sour flavor. Separately, Candy Dynamics is recalling 70 million of two-ounce to three-ounce roller candies in Blue Razz, Strawberry, Sour Apple and Black Cherry flavors. The labels printed on the front include: “TOXIC WASTE” and “SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy” or “MEGA TOXIC WASTE” and “SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy.”CPSC listed the affected barcodes on its website. Candy Dynamics said to contact the company for a full refund of any product that still has candy in it.

CNN —All models of Onewheel electric skateboards are being recalled after the maker Future Motion received reports of four deaths of users between 2019 and 2021 and multiple reports of serious injuries. Santa Cruz-based Future Motion initially refused to agree to a recall in November, when the Consumer Product Safety Commission first warned customers to stop using the skateboards. The firmware update will roll out in a few weeks, and is only available for Onewheel GT, Pint X, Pint, and XR products, not original Onewheel and Onewheel+ skateboards, the company said. Future Motion and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission encouraged riders to wear personal safety equipment. CNN has reached out to Future Motion for comment.

New York CNN —Costco customers are going to the mattresses over mold. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of 48,000 mattresses sold exclusively at Costco due to risk of mold exposure. Mold could have developed, leading to health risks for consumers with compromised immune systems, damaged lungs or a mold allergy. The CPSC said only mattresses with the model and item numbers listed on its website are included in the recall. The DreamAway 8-inch mattress has a gray base with “Novaform” printed in white letters,” the CPSC said.

CNN —Reports of injured children have prompted the recall of 7.5 million Baby Shark bath toys, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced. Zuru LLC, the California company that imports the China-manufactured products, is recalling 6.5 million full-size Robo Alive Junior Baby Shark Sing Swim Bath Toys and 1 million mini-size Robo Alive Junior Mini Baby Shark Swimming Bath Toys, the commission said in a news release Thursday. The Robo Alive Junior Mini Baby Shark Swimming Toy is among the recalled products. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said that consumers “should immediately stop” using the recalled air fryers and contact Cosori for a free replacement. The company set up a special website for customers to trade in their air fryers for a new one. The air fryers, which range in price from $70 to $130, were sold between June 2018 through December 2022 at a number of retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot and Target. The fryers are size 3.7 and 5.8 quarts and were sold in black, gray, white, blue or red colors.

Target has received four reports of kids becoming entrapped under these blankets, including the two deaths, the commission said. The commission and Target are urging customers to stop using the recalled blankets and to contact Target for a refund. "In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the product manufacturer, we are also initiating a full product recall and are in the process of alerting consumers." This isn't the first product Target has stopped selling this year due to the danger posed to children.
